Adoptive parents can be married or single and should be emotionally mature. They should be able to give a child unconditional love, security and adequate care. Adoptive parents need to be over the age of 18 and if married, need to have been married for at least one year. Home ownership is not required. Your home or apartment should have sufficient room for an addition to your family. You will not be excluded because you choose to rent. Single, working parents will need to make satisfactory child care arrangements. The adopting parents should possess personal qualities of maturity, stability, flexibility, and provide a positive role model for the child.
